Madrid is a city worth looking at and admiring, and what better way to do so than by visiting its viewpoints. In today’s blog post we are going to show you some of the best viewpoints in Madrid, where you can enjoy a beautiful summer sunset, a picnic with friends or a romantic date, among many other things. Let’s go there!

Corte Inglés de Callao

This may be one of the most famous terraces – viewpoints in the capital. Located right in the centre of Madrid, in the Plaza de Callao, this terrace is on the top floor of the El Corte Inglés building. Here you will find a covered part full of restaurant stalls where you can enjoy different foods and flavours; and an open part (terrace) where you can enjoy the breathtaking views of the centre of Madrid.

Access to this viewpoint is completely free. It will only cost you money if you want to eat or drink something from one of the restaurants, although it is not mandatory.

Cibeles Palace – Madrid City Hall

Cibeles Palace is currently, and since 2007, the seat of the Madrid City Hall. Inside, on the 6th floor, you will find huge glass windows from which you will be able to see some very interesting views. However, we recommend that you go up a little further to reach the roof of the palace.

The rooftop is where you will find the truly incredible viewpoint from which you can admire Plaza de Cibeles, Calle Alcalá and the beginning of Gran Vía. Access to this viewpoint costs €2, which, we assure you, is well worth paying.

Círculo de Bellas Artes

This is a cultural centre located in the heart of Madrid, on Calle Alcalá. On the top floor of this building you will find what is known as the Azotea del Círculo de Bellas Artes. From this rooftop terrace you can enjoy panoramic views of almost 360 degrees of the entire Spanish capital.

The rooftop also has a bar-restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, dinner and cocktails. The price to access the rooftop is €4, plus whatever you want to spend at the bar-restaurant. It is not compulsory to eat at the bar to access the roof terrace.

Cerro del Tío Pío

This is a large garden located in the Madrid neighbourhood of Vallecas. This garden has 7 small hills from which you can see different views and perspectives of the city. It is precisely because of these 7 hills that the Cerro del Tío Pío is also known as el Parque de las Siete Tetas (the Park of the Seven Tits).

It is one of the best viewpoints in Madrid to watch the sunset while enjoying a picnic, and all this completely free.

Temple of Debod

Next to the Temple of Debod we find a small viewpoint overlooking the Royal Palace and the Almudena Cathedral. It is a small viewpoint where the views are limited, but very special. Thanks to its strategic position, it allows you to admire the beautiful sunsets over the rooftops of Madrid. Of course, enjoying these views is completely free.
