The most awaited moment for many students has arrived. At this time of the year, the most normal thing is that you already know your Erasmus destination and you are preparing everything to go to your destination city: knowing how you are going to travel, looking for an apartment, looking for people who go to the same city as you… And something that not many of you usually take into account, but that is of crucial importance: How to get from the airport to the city, what is the best way depending on the luggage you are carrying, etc? In today’s post we show you how to get from Rome airport to the city center. Here we go!

Leonardo Express train

Rome’s airport is known as Fuimicino, although its official name is Leonardo Da Vinci Airport. Therefore, the train that takes you from the airport to the city is the Leonardo Express Train. Specifically, this train connects the airport with Termini train station. This trip takes about half an hour, and its biggest advantage is that you are allowed to board the train with any kind of luggage of any size. The price of this trip is 14 euros or, if you are a group of people, you can group in four and buy a voucher for four trips for 10 euros.

Regional train

If you do not want to spend so much money, you can also use the regional train line FR1. If you want to go to the city center, you can get off at Tiburtina, Tuscolana, Ostiense and Trastevere stations, depending on which one is closer to your destination. To use this train, you can buy tickets at the station or online

Bus

All buses connecting the airport with the city center leave from Terminal 3. You can also choose which company to travel with, as there are different companies offering this service, although they are very similar. The route they offer is direct from the airport to the city center without stops, and usually lasts 1 hour. The best known company is Terravision and the price of the ticket is 6 euros, it can be purchased online

 Taxi

The trip from the airport to the center of Rome has a fixed price of 48 euros. Even so, we recommend that, before starting the trip, you talk to the driver and set the price saying that you know that it is 48 euros by law. Otherwise, a driver may take advantage of the fact that you are foreigners and want to charge you more.

We hope this post has helped you and that you do not have any problem to get from Rome airport to the city.
