One of the best ways to get to know a new city at the beginning of your arrival is to get to know its culture first hand. Do you want to know which are the best museums in our cities? Madrid 

The museum par excellence of the city of Madrid is the Museo Nacional del Prado. It is considered the most important cultural institution in Spain, according to the Observatory of Culture 2020. In this museum you can find the most important collection of paintings in Europe, with paintings by artists such as Velázquez, El Greco, Goya and el Bosco, among others. You can access for free from Monday to Saturday from 6 to 8 pm and on Sundays and holidays from 7 to 9 pm. If you do not do it in these hours, the price of general admission is 15 euros, or 7.50 for some groups such as, for example, university students.

Barcelona 

In the city of Barcelona, one of the museums that stands out, especially among young people is the MACBA. This is the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona, where you can visit contemporary art exhibitions in the heart of one of the most contemporary neighbourhoods of Barcelona, El Raval. This museum can only be visited free of charge one day a week. This day is Saturday, starting at 4 pm.   

Valencia   

In the case of Valencia, it is not only a museum itself, but a complete cultural complex. This is the City of Arts and Sciences, within which you can find different spaces dedicated to art and culture. If we focus only on its museum part, then we are referring to the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum. However, here you can also visit an aquarium, a music auditorium or an urban garden, among others.

Florence   

In Florence you can find the Uffizi Gallery, a palace that houses the oldest art collections in the world. It is even said that the gallery has collections that have not even been exhibited due to lack of space. You can only visit this gallery for free on the first Sunday of every month. The rest of the days, the price of general admission is 20 euros. 

Milan  

The most important museum in the city of Milan is the Pinacoteca di Brera. It is an art gallery that houses the most important works of Italian painting. Children under 18 have free admission to this museum every day of the month at any time. For those between 18 and 25 years old, the entrance fee is 8 euros, and for those over this age, 12 euros. The day when admission is free for everyone is the first Sunday of each month.  

Lisbon   

The Calouste Gulbenkian Museum is considered the most important museum in Lisbon. It is a gallery of art, both ancient and modern, named after an Armenian businessman. This gallery divides its works of art into two different collections: “the Founder’s Collection” and “the Modern Collection“. The first collection consists of about a thousand works, acquired by Calouste Gulbenkian during his lifetime. For its part, the second collection is the one that is closer to the Portuguese art of the twentieth century. Admission to this museum for those under 29 years of age is 5 euros. Once this age is exceeded, the adult ticket is priced at 10 euros. The days when you can visit this museum for free, regardless of age, are Sundays from 2 pm.  

Paris 

The most famous and important museum in Paris is the Louvre Museum. It is a museum that exhibits the art collections collected for centuries by French monarchs. In addition, it served as an example and reference of the passage from the possession of art by monarchs and aristocrats to the exhibition of these works for the enjoyment of society 

London    

In London, the museum par excellence is the British Museum. It is one of the most important and visited museums in the world and you can visit exhibitions on different fields of study, such as history, archeology, ethnography or art. The works exhibited in this museum come from all over the world and it is known that there are even works that are not yet exhibited due to lack of space
