At the university

First of all, don’t panic. Think that all your classmates are in the same situation as you. You are all new there and, therefore, you all want to make new friends. Chances are that everything will come naturally and you won’t even have to have a hard time. I’m sure on the first day you’ll come up with the option of making a Whatssap group so you can all stay in touch, both to talk about class stuff and to propose plans outside the university. And if no one says so, be the first to propose it! Everyone will think it’s a great idea.

At work

Maybe making a group of friends in the work environment can be a little more complicated idea. But don’t worry, it’s all up to you. Keep in mind that, nowadays, a lot of people commute to other cities for work. Therefore, there is a good chance that you will find colleagues who are in the same situation as you. Suggest having a few beers after work to get to know each other better and exchange your phone numbers. In this way, everything will come up little by little and you will see how quickly you will connect with some of them.

In your new apartment

The atmosphere in shared apartments varies a lot depending on the situation. Even so, it is also something that is in your hands to manage. Suggest to your new roommates to have lunch or dinner together in the apartment one day. Start introducing yourselves and tell them why you are there, what you do, what your hobbies are…. Just as it happens at university, think that it is very likely that your flatmates are in the same situation as you

In this type of environment, people are usually very willing to establish relationships with the rest of their peers. You can also propose to create a WhatsApp group. Think that you already have the advantage of being surrounded by a group of people who share the same hobby.
